August Night

the scent of clean laundry
from someone’s dryer
bored teenagers
walk the alley
cat pounces on a mouse
the death cry
a whisper on the breeze

One Response to “August Night”

  1. This “August” brings both night and day– stark, terrifying; yet because of its precision, hopeful as well. A very powerful, memorable voice.
